At least three individuals have been detained for questioning in a shooting that has left two people dead and 14-16 wounded outside the Club Blu in Fort Myers this morning.

Another person was shot and wounded at another location in what Fort Myers Police are saying was a three-scene investigation.

Fort Myers Police arriving at the club at 3580 Evans Avenue at 12:30 a.m. in response to a shooting call that had just occurred in the parking lot discovered “several victims suffering from gunshots wounds” a release from the FMPD states.

“Injuries ranged from minor to life threatening. All victims were transported from the scene by Lee County Emergency Medical Services to area hospitals,” according the the release.

Other victims left the scene on their own and were also treated at local area hospitals.

“There are two confirmed deaths as a result of this incident and at least 14-16 people hurt,” officials said. “Investigators are working to determine the identity of the deceased and notify next of kin.”

Incidents at two other locations have connected with the shooting, police said.

A residence and vehicles were shot at at 2550 Parkway Street were one minor injury was reported.

“The other location is on Ortiz Avenue between Luckett Road and Ballard Road, where one person of interest had been detained in connection with this incident,” police said. “The Fort Myers Police Department and Lee County Sheriff’s Office are actively canvassing the area looking for other persons who may be involved in this incident.”

Other subjects along Ortiz Avenue are being detained for questioning.

Police say the area is deemed safe at this time although the roadway will remained closed as the investigation continues. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

Evans Avenue is closed between Carrell Road and Winkler Ave. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes here as well.
