Yacht Club parking lots paving project to start Monday
The parking lots at the Yacht Club will be repaved starting Monday, April 25. Repair and replacement of storm drains in preparation for the paving has been completed. The paving contractor, PMI, will begin resurfacing the parking lots located throughout the Yacht Club area.
The project will be conducted in four phases:
Phase I: April 25 30
East parking lot and the roadway along the seawall from the second median north of the Boathouse to the south edge of the yacht basin
Phase II: May 2 7
The roadway between the pool and the Yacht Basin and the Rotino Center parking lot
Phase III: May 9 14
Yacht Basin/Tennis parking lot
Phase IV: May 16 21
The roadway from the entrance of the park past the boat ramp to the Boathouse.
PMI uses a green process called “recycling in place.” Instead of breaking up and hauling off the asphalt, the existing surface is rehabilitated and reused. This part of the process will be done Monday Thursday with paving on Friday and re-striping on Saturday. Work will continue until 4 p.m. during the week and noon on Saturday. Cars will be allowed to park in the work area after 4 p.m.
Park rangers will be on location to direct traffic during the project.
