On Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010 at approximately 1:10 p.m. the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a reported armed home invasion robbery that had just occurred at 86 Oyster Bay Lane, Fort Myers Beach.

Due to the nature of the incident, Robbery Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene to investigate. The investigation revealed the victim, Louis Gerald Dalli, date of birth 02/07/1934, was in his living room when he heard banging on his sliding glass door. Dalli stated the sliding glass door then shattered and a white male carrying a shotgun entered his residence thru the shattered doorway. Dalli stated the white male was wearing a dark hooded type shirt and a dark in color bandana over his face to conceal his identity. The suspect stated he wanted money. A struggle ensued and Dalli began yelling for help at which time the suspect fled the scene. Dalli received minor cuts and scrapes during the struggle and was given first aid by Fort Myers Beach Fire/Rescue personnel. There were no shots fired during the altercation.

Three neighbors heard screams for help coming out of Dalli’s residence and saw a white male matching the description given by Dalli flee the residence and get into a red Sports Utility type vehicle. One neighbor obtained the license plate number of the vehicle.

A check of the license plate number led deputies to 16186 Coco Hammock Way, Fort Myers. Deputies responding to this address located the vehicle in the area. A deputy turned on his overhead lights to conduct a traffic stop at which time the driver of the vehicle fled the area. The Lee County Sheriff’s office Aviation Unit assisted by monitoring the vehicle as it drove down various roadways in an attempt to elude law enforcement vehicles. The driver eventually stopped on Dublin Circle then fled the scene and ran on foot to 16186 Cocoa Hammock Way where he made entry into the home.

Deputies were able to make contact with the suspect, identified as Patrick Joseph Fragassi, date of birth 06/13/1977, who eventually exited the residence on his own without incident.

Robbery detectives obtained a search warrant and were able to recover the shotgun used in the incident.

Patrick Joseph Fragassi was placed under arrest for Home Invasion Robbery with a Firearm or Weapon, Fleeing Elude Law Enforcement Officer with Lights and Siren Active, Obstruct without Violence, and Driving While License Suspended.
