Cape woman charged with stabbing, killing her mother
Today, June 17, at 10:04 a.m., the Cape Coral Police Department responded to a 911 call in the 2500 block of S.W. Embers Terrace. While officers were en route, the call was upgraded to a stabbing.
According to a report issued this afternoon by the CCPD, when officers arrived on scene they found an adult female with a stab wound. The female was transported to a local hospital where she passed away at 11:44 a.m. as a result of the injuries she sustained.
Major Crimes detectives and forensics specialists responded to the scene, police said, and during their investigation probable cause was developed to arrest the victim’s daughter, Mariya Lynn Kelly, 21, for manslaughter.
Kelly was transported to the Lee County Jail.
