PRIDE Cape Coral 2020 set for this weekend
PRIDE Cape Coral will return this weekend for a two-day event, complete with a parade along Southeast 47th Terrace, TUTU Drag Races and a street Drag Brunch.
South Cape Hospitality & Entertainment Association Board Member Alison Polo said PRIDE Cape Coral 2020 is going to be a great event.
The event is now in its second year.
“We felt it was something needed in the area to bring diversity and promote inclusion,” she said. “We are expecting to grow quite a bit and are expecting to see even more people this year.”
The event will take place Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8. On Saturday the free event will open at 3 p.m. There will be a TUTU Drag Race at 3:45 p.m., followed by the parade at 4 p.m.
Those interested in the TUTU race can register from 3 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. There is $500 in cash prizes.
The PRIDE Cape Coral Parade Grand Marshal is Sammie Cimarelli from Netflix’s “The Circle.”
Polo said they have quite a few participants in the parade, which will take place on 47th Terrace from Southeast 15th Place to Southeast 9th Place.
Entertainment will take place from 5 to 10 p.m.
The entertainment Saturday includes Cimarelli; Laganja Estranja from RePaul’s Drag Race; Altanta based Rapper J Tyler; Sonique from RuPaul’s Drag Race; The Voice musician and songwriter Sheena Brook; local singer and performer Daye Nada/Raul; Miss Cape Coral Pride Alyssa Lemay; Drag Queen Traixie Towers; Drag Queen Tara Newhole; Drag Queen Savage Fierce; Drag Queen Alexia Cicconi; South Florida Entertainer of the Year Lisa Renee and Rachael Valentine.
There will also be an exclusive meet-and -greet event at 6 p.m. for individuals who would like to meet Estranja, Cimarelli, Sonique and Brook face to face. Tickets are $25.
There is also VIP access with meet and greet and hangouts for $50. It includes an exclusive tent featuring fare from Nice Guys and an open bar with a private bartender. This area provides viewing of the parade.
Saturday’s activities also includes carnival games, street entertainers, Vendor Village, and food trucks.
On Sunday there will be a Drag Brunch in the Street with two seatings, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tickets are $25 and includes a buffet style brunch, two drinks and a show.
Polo said the brunch is the largest drag brunch in the area. It will take place in the street on 10th Place and 47th Terrace. She said all the performers will be performing again and food will be served from local eateries.
“We are only selling 200 tickets per seating,” Polo said, adding that seats were still available.
On Sunday the entertainers include Alyssa Lemay; Trixie Towers; Savage FierceA; Rachael Valentine; Tara Newhole; Daye Nada; Sonique and Laganja Estranja.
Mad Mel, from iHeart Radio will be the emcee both days.
