The line-up of bands includes Black Oak Arkansas, Maiden Cane, Nova Rex, Blackfoot, Preacher Stone, Michael Allman Band and Whiskey Stills & Mash.
The event is being put on by Cr8z Eight Artist Management and Jari’s Productions Photography & Web Design.
Steve Chamberland, who is a former semi-pro football player, amateur hockey player, and pro-wrestler, began 50 Legs to provide quality prosthetic legs to children, adults and military wishing to live an active lifestyle.
Jari Hilpipre said they wanted to do a benefit concert for the charity because it has helped so many people.
“I don’t think many people realize his back story and how many people he does help,” she said of Chamberland. “The guy is amazing. A lot of people cannot afford them (prosthetic legs) and feel like their life is over. He gives them a reason to live.”
Hilpipre said Chamberland’s organization tugs at her heart strings because she has a son who has autism
“I want to bring the best of the bands that I can afford, especially at Christmas time to be able to give the gift of life, so they can have a life again,” she said.
The doors for the Rockin’ For Legs event will open at 10:30 a.m. with the first band taking the stage at noon. In addition to music, there will be food vendors, alcohol, as well as craft vendors.
Chamberland also will be in attendance, along with a lot of individuals he has helped.
“There is something for everybody to do. It’s a kid-friendly event,” Hilpipre said.
Hilpipre is a photographer, promoter, band agent and manager that has put together several festivals in such places as Illinois, New Jersey, New York and North Carolina.
“I’m excited to come down and see your city again,” she said of Cape Coral. “I haven’t been down since I was a little girl. This is the first time doing a big event in Florida. I am excited to come to Florida.”
