Lee County Commissioners award contract for Littleton Road/Kismet Parkway realignment
The Lee Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, Nov. 19, voted to award a contract for the realignment and widening of Littleton Road at Kismet Parkway and the installation of a roundabout at Littleton Road and Corbett Road.
The project also includes associated improvements including sidewalks, bike lanes and drainage improvements.
The contract awarded to Lee County-based Thompkins Contracting Inc. is for $2.06 million. The project is jointly funded with the City of Cape Coral; total project costs including design, right-of-way, construction engineering and construction are estimated to cost $5.2 million.
The board adopted the new alignment for the intersection of Kismet Parkway and Littleton Road on March 20, 2018. The project includes widening the existing two-lane roadway section on Littleton Road to four lanes, on-road bike lanes and 6-foot sidewalks on both sides.
Construction is expected to begin in early 2020 and be completed in about 10 months.
