Friday, Oct. 18, is your last day to take advantage of Lee County Clerk’s Operation Green Light program.

During Operation Green Light, Lee County customers with suspended driver licenses have an opportunity to pay overdue court obligations, including traffic tickets, while saving money on certain fees and collection costs. Customers may also be able to have suspended driver licenses reinstated.

Operation Green Light is a state-wide, one-week event that began Saturday, Oct.12.

Anyone with a suspended license has the opportunity to have their driver license reinstated at a reduced rate.

The Clerk’s Office is waiving the 25 percent collections surcharge on cases that have been turned over to a collection agency as well as payment plan setup fees and the D-6, or suspended licenses, fee.

“Operation Green Light is a substantial savings for anyone with a ticket in collections and an opportunity to have their driver license reissued or reinstated,” officials said.

Times and locations are:

* 7:45 a.m. to 7 p.m., Lee County Clerk of Courts Justice Center Complex, 2075 MLK/1700 Monroe St., Fort Myers

* 8 a.m. 5 p.m., Lee County Government Center 1039 S.E. 9th Place, Cape Coral

“We are trying to help the thousands of people in Lee County with suspended D/L licenses save money and have their driving privileges restored. By waiving the 25% collection surcharge for traffic tickets, court fines and fees that are more than 90 days overdue, people can save money. For example, on a $206 ticket, you’ll save $51.50 in collection agency surcharges during Operation Green Light,” a release from the office states.

The Clerk’s Office has partnered with the Tax Collector’s Office, local courts and the collection agency vendor to take part in the program.
