3 min read

Southwest Florida motorcycle enthusiasts can rev their engines for the start of another season of Bike Nights in Cape Coral.

Saturday is the first of four free events on Cape Coral’s newly renovated Southwest 47th Terrace where live music, good times and smokin’ rides reign supreme.

Nearly 20,000 people come out to enjoy the festive atmosphere of Bike Night, which is now in its 15th season, where everyone can get a look at all styles and makes of hogs, choppers and more.

“Kick the tires and light the fire, bike night is back,” said Todd King, special events coordinator with the city of Cape Coral.

All of the favorites return to Bike Night now that the streetscape project in the South Cape is complete, King said, including the popular slow bike races.

“We’re excited to have that coming back,” King said. “It’s been a fan favorite for years. With construction it was hard to execute, now, we’re ready to go.”

The event is open to the public beginning at 5 p.m. and runs until 10 p.m.

Live entertainment on the main stage features Hester Prynn, a newer rock ‘n’ roll band with veteran artists, taking to the stage from 6-7:30 p.m.

Rockstar Harley Slow Bike Races take place from 7:30-8:30 p.m. near the corner of Southeast 47th Terrace an Southeast 8th Court.

Those who would like to take part can sign up by 7:15 p.m. at the Bruce L. Scheiner tent, located by the bleachers near the main stage.

ZZ’s Best, a ZZ Top cover band, serves as the headliner for the event, rocking the stage from 8:30-10. p.m.

“ZZ’s Best have performed at Bike Nights in the past and were phenomenal,” King said. “It’s a night of rock ‘n’ roll, beverages, food and a great evening with motorcycle enthusiasts.”

The Special Events Division with Cape Coral said Bike Night is a staple in the city, and it only hopes to improve the event with construction now complete in the downtown area.

“It’s iconic,” King said of Bike Night. “We plan significantly all year for it. Now that streetscape is complete, Bike Night is a new project, with new standards. We’re excited to get the community out to enjoy some music and show off their motorcycles.”

Vendor Village, located in what’s usually the Nevermind parking lot, will have all of your food and beverage needs, as well as gear for your bike.

Food trucks and beer tents will be scattered the area, and if you’re looking for a new feature to add to your Harley, Yamaha, Honda, Ducati or other brand, chances are you’ll find it from a vendor at Bike Night.

Parking will be located on the south side of Southeast 47th Terrace and in the Iguana Mia parking lot.

Motorcycle street parking is permitted until 11:30 p.m. After that, motorcycles will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Associates and Bruce L. Schiner has been a key sponsor for Bike Night 12 years running, and the firm is an advocate for motorcycle safety.

“When we first started the law firm, we had a strong commitment to the welfare and safety of the motorcycle community,” Scheiner said, in a prepared statement. “We have always supported the motorcycle community in Southwest Florida.”

The next Bike Night will take place Dec. 14, followed by others on Feb. 8 and April 11 of 2020.
