Cape man charged after police involved shooting
Early this morning, the Cape Coral Police Department issued a report of an officer involved shooting that occurred late Tuesday night.
According to the report, on Oct. 8, around 10:10 p.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Northeast 8th Street due to a disturbance. When the officers arrived on scene, they began to investigate the disturbance and James Lee Hall, 46, exited his residence holding a handgun.
The report states that officers told Hall to put his handgun down, but he did not. While he was raising his arm with the handgun in it, he fired one shot and officers returned fire.
Hall was reportedly shot in the wrist and has a wound to his head. No police officers were injured.
Hall was treated for his injuries, which are not life threatening, police said.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office website, Hall was arrested and at 6:35 this morning and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. He remains in custody with no bond set.
The CCPD indicated that this is an ongoing investigation and additional information will be released as it is confirmed to be accurate.
