Southwest Florida is home to a rich population of veterans and next weekend, you can support our local heroes while enjoying a special event in Cape Coral.

A pig roast fundraiser to benefit the Injured Warriors Fund of Florida is set for Saturday, Oct. 12, from noon until the fun ends at Anthony’s on the Blvd.

The Injured Warriors Fund of Florida assists veterans severely injured in combat or suffering from PTSD from all branches of the military who reside in Florida.

“We have a community full of veterans here in Southwest Florida, and I support them throughout the entire year,” said Tony Serrago, owner of Anthony’s. “My father was a veteran. They’re the reason why we’re here and have the freedoms we have.”

Serrago also donates food to the SWFL Military Museum & Library the first Tuesday of each month.

Tickets to the pig roast are $20 to get a taste of the slow-roasted pork that will surely satisfy the palate of all meat lovers.

“We’ll have the pig cooking outside, along with a full menu,” Serrago said.

The ticket also includes two side dishes and a free ticket to Anthony’s Sunday morning breakfast buffet.

While you get your grub on for a good cause, there will be plenty of opportunities to go home with a prize.

Serrago said there will be around 50 prizes up for grabs, including a $500 FOS shopping spree, a seven-day resort stay from RCI, a car detail package from Cape Coral Dodge and so much more.

Drink specials will be offered all day and live entertainment featuring Chuck “Charlie Brown,” Barbara Rae and Moon Child will take to the stage.

Serrago said the focus of the roast is to highlight how PTSD is a serious issue for soldiers returning home, and for the community to rally around those who need help after making such a large sacrifice for their country.

This is the second annual PTSD awareness fundraiser supported by The PFCPaul E. Ison Marine Corps League Det #60.

Tickets can be purchased at Anthony’s on the Blvd, at 1303 Del Prado Blvd.
