Land use ordinances top council agenda
City Council has three ordinance public hearings on its agenda for Monday’s meeting at City Hall with all three dealing with land use amendments.
One hearing requests a change from single family residential to multi-family residential on property in the 5100 block of Chiquita Boulevard at Southwest 16th Place. This is a continuance of a hearing begun on March 28. The applicant wants to develop multi-family units on the 1.3-acre parcel.
A similar request was denied by Council in 2007, but a block of multi-family residential units is located just north of this property. Planning staff and the Planning &?Zoning Commission both recommend approval.
Another ordinance amendment requests changing property at 1906 Skyline Boulevard from commercial activity center (CAC) to commercial/professional use. The 4.8-acre parcel has been designated for CAC use since 2010 and zoned marketplace residential since 2011.
Staff and Planning & Zoning both recommend approval.
The third hearing seeks to change the land use regulations for non-commercial signs placed in the right-of-way or public forum with city staff recommending approval.
Consent agenda items include three more resolutions to purchase lots in the northwest Cape associated with the Festival Park project. All parcels are to be purchased for the city’s standard $9,400 offering, but a fourth parcel contract is being terminated.
After Monday’s meeting, council has scheduled a special workshop session for 4:30 p.m. on June 1 before its next regular Monday meeting on June 6. There will be no council meeting on Memorial Day, May 30.
