Cape Coral man facing child pornography charges
A Cape Coral man remained in jail on Tuesday, accused of producing child pornography.
Joseph Andrew Spradlin, 40, of 2814 N.W. Fourth Ave., was being held on $210,000 bond, according to records. He is charged with two counts of cruelty toward child direct promote sexual performance by child and 15 counts of obscene material possession possess promote present depict child sex conduct.
Spradlin was also charged with one count of lewd lascivious molest victim less 12 years of age.
A report states that Cape detectives executed a search warrant at 2814 N.W. Fourth Ave. on Thursday for possession of child pornography. Numerous electronic devices and thumb drives were seized.
Contact was made with Spradlin, who allegedly advised that he resided at the home and that he downloaded and viewed child porn. After the interview, detectives left to further the investigation.
During a forensic preview of one of the seized thumb drives, 14 sexually explicit pictures and one sexually explicit video of a prepubescent female were observed, according to the police report.
Thirteen of the images were dated Aug. 23, while one picture and video were dated Jan. 17.
During the course of the investigation, the child was identified.
The report states that an interview was conducted with the child on Thursday. She disclosed to a child protection team case coordinator that Spradlin touched her inappropriately and took pictures of her.
Based on the evidence, Spradlin was located at his residence and taken into custody.
He could not be reached for comment regarding the allegations.
Spradlin has a court appearance scheduled for May 31.
