Busy summer at Cultural Park Theatre
Cultural Park Theatre is proud to announce their summer line up with an array of plays and concerts that will take the stage offering something for every musical taste and a fun night out as well.
Starting the season off was a Tribute concert from Tom and Sandy Doyle with their tribute to the music of “Les Paul and Mary Ford” This production played May 6, 7 and 8.
Next on stage May 27, 28 and 29, we proudly present the comedy “Seven Nuns At Las Vegas.” When it snows on a May Day in Indiana, Sister Columba, an elderly rheumatic nun, asks St. Joseph to take her where the weather is warm. St. Joseph takes her, the convent, and six other nuns who happen to be in the convent at the moment, to the warm sands of Nevada – just outside of Las Vegas. Las Vegas is a shock to the nuns and to St. Joseph, and the nuns and St. Joseph have a startling effect on Law Vegas. This bustling resort town gives up gambling and takes up contemplation; the Bible becomes a best seller; a mission priest is the rage of the nightclub crowd; and three dancing girls from the Silver Dollar, Peaches, Boots, and Baby, decided to take to the veil. But, the nuns have their problems too. There is real- estate difficulty; they own the convent but not the ground; the younger nuns thumb rides to town; Peaches, Boots, and Baby teach one of the sisters a dance routine; and finally, the sister in charge finds herself offering to “place a small bet.” St. Joseph and the nuns realize they had better go home, so St. Joseph returns the convent and its occupants to Indiana
As a special treat this summer we welcome Angela Pierre and the Motown Four to our stage for four performances on Jun 10, 11, and 12. This will be an evening of entertainment you will be talking about long after your evening at the show.
Also on stage this summer we look forward to the Joe Simonelli comedy “Where There’s A Will” This romantic-comedy about a Staten Island playwright who gets visited by William Shakespeare when he’s transported from the 16th century to present day. Shakespeare then finds himself on the doorstep of the struggling playwright who’s having relationship problems – what would Shakespeare do?
We will also present two more concert tribute shows this summer starting with a tribute to Martin and Lewis on Stage July 22 through 24. And ending our season with the ultimate Tribute to the music of Sammy, Liza and Frank on August 5, 6 and 7.
There it is! A summer season you won’t want to miss.
