New Alzheimer’s caregiver support group in Cape Coral
The Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer’s Resource Center has announced the addition of a new caregiver support group in Cape Coral.
This new group meets the third Thursday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Grace Church, 13 SE 21st Place, Cape Coral. Respite is provided at the church, by a licensed healthcare professional along with trained volunteers, for your loved one with memory impairment, while you attend the support group with its licensed clinical social worker. Respite for your loved one includes important socialization, music, art and on occasion pet therapy. Snacks are also provided. Grace Church has offered to provide respite at no cost.
The caregivers support group meetings provides an opportunity for caregivers to meet others who are facing similar challenges related to Alzheimer’s disease and other neurocognitive disorders (dementias), discuss effective coping strategies, and other pertinent caregiving issues. Educational material and community resources are also available.
If you would like to participate in this group and use the respite program, contact the Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer’s Resource Center at (239) 437-3007.
