Charges pending in motorcycle crash
A criminal investigation is being conducted into a crash involving a 71-year-old motorcyclist.
Cape Coral police reported that Martin Peter Kaczerski, of the Cape, was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle south on Northeast 24th Avenue Friday. At 10:22 p.m., Kaczerski made a left turn onto Hunter Boulevard, where witnesses stated that he failed to negotiate the left curve in the roadway.
The motorcycle drove off of the road and entered the curb and gutter area, possibly striking a raised curb. Kaczerski began to wobble and was thrown from the motorcycle, according to the police.
The motorcycle and Kaczerski came to final rest in the northbound lanes of Hunter.
The police reported that Kaczerski sustained multiple injuries, including a head injury, during the accident. He was not wearing a helmet at the time and was trauma-alerted to a local hospital.
Hospital staff determined that he has sustained multiple non-life threatening injuries.
As of Tuesday, he had been discharged from the hospital.
It was also determined that Kaczerski had a blood alcohol content of 0.157, according to police.
Officials reported that the crash is alcohol or drug related.
“Criminal charges are pending,” Sgt. Dana Coston, spokesman for the CCPD, said.
