CCPD: Two people arrested in grow house raid
Two people were arrested and dozens of marijuana plants were seized in a police raid.
At about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Cape Coral Police Department served a search warrant at a residence at 51 N.W. 33rd Terrace. Officers discovered an elaborate marijuana grow house operation and seized 60 mature marijuana plants, which weighed more than 156 pounds, officials reported.
Yosvany Hernandez Sanchez, 26, of 51 N.W. 33rd Terrace, was charged with one count each of marijuana producing, marijuana traffic excess of 25 pounds or 300 plants or more and drugs traffic own rent structure vehicle know traffic drugs.
Katia Gonzalez Ruiz, 28, of 51 N.W. 33rd Terrace, was also charged with marijuana producing, marijuana traffic excess of 25 pounds or 300 plants or more and drugs traffic own rent structure vehicle know traffic drugs, as well as an additional count of resist officer obstruct without violence.
“During the executive of the warrant, one of the suspects (Gonzalez Ruiz) fled into the attic, resulting in a considerable delay in the investigation,” Sgt. Dana Coston, spokesman for the CCPD, said.
As of Thursday, both remained in custody at the Lee County Jail without bond.
Neither could be reached for comment on the allegations.
They each have a court appearance set for May 9.
