CCPD investigating home invasion
Cape Coral Police Department detectives are investigating an armed home invasion in southeast Cape Coral.
Cape police responding to a shots fired call at 913 S.E. 27th Terrace at 9 p.m. Monday were told that two armed men forced their way into the home, demanded money they said they were owed, and then shot at a vehicle parked in the yard.
The caller had reported that they heard the shots go off, looked out their window, and saw what appeared to be several persons with flashlights break the rear screen door of their neighbor’s house and enter the residence.
Arriving officers set a perimeter up around the house.
When a man came out onto the back lanai, police ordered him to come out to where the officers were. He was identified as a resident at the house.
“Investigation revealed that two males, who were known to the victim, forced their way into the house with guns, demanding money that was owed to them,” a release from the CCPD issued Tuesday morning states. “The two suspects left the house and fired rounds into the hood and rear quarter panel of victim’s vehicle that was parked behind the house.”
A woman and children were also in the home.
“Nobody was injured but there were three children inside of the house when the crime occurred,” police said, adding DCF was notified.
A witness stated that the gunmen fled the area, possibly in a GMC Jimmy.
Investigative Services Bureau Detectives and Forensics personnel responded to the home and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
