Three public hearings top Cape Coral City Council agenda

2 min read

Three ordinance public hearings await the attention of City Council members at Monday’s regular weekly meeting.

Council also is being asked to continue a contract with Bonness, Inc., for construction of Sirenia Vista walkways and observation pad. It’s for installation of stamped concrete walkway along the spreader canal with two observation pads and additional ADA?walkway for an existing observation dock. The amount in question is $71,984.

Continuation of the project is made possible by additional funding awarded the city by the Lee County Tourist Development Council.

Members will decide the fate of requests for a land use amendment, a zoning amendment and a planned development project.

The PDP ordinance seeks approval for a commercial center at Entrada, located at the northeast intersection of Del Prado Boulevard and De Navarra Parkway in northeast Cape. Developers wish to be granted a special exception to allow a limited automotive service station with convenience store on the property. Both Planning &?Zoning Commission and city staff have recommended approval of the project.

The property is 50 acres where a 2005 PDP approved was never started. Ten acres of the parcel are deeded as conservation land. The new development also includes retail space.

The other two public hearings are related requests to change property at 3022 S..E Santa Barbara Place from commercial activity center to multi family residential. Both requests were denied by votes of the Planning & Zoning Commission and staff recommended denial as well.

The meeting starts at 4:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall at 1015 Cultural Park Blvd.
