Casino in the Cape: Fundraiser benefits local charities

2 min read

Tickets are on sale for a fundraiser that will benefit three charities in Cape Coral.

Hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral’s Leadership Cape Coral Alumni Class of 2015, the 5th Annual Casino in the Cape will take place on Feb. 26 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Cape Coral Yacht Club. The event will feature casino-style games, live entertainment, a rolling raffle, dinner and more.

“Each year during the Leadership Cape Coral (program), we have a ‘not-for-profit day,'” Lyz Crouthamel, special events director for the chamber and a Class of 2015 alumna, said.

She explained that the program participants are introduced to various local organizations. The participants then vote on which charities will be the beneficiaries of that year’s fundraiser.

This year, the proceeds from the Annual Casino in the Cape will benefit the Invest in America’s Veterans Foundation, For The Kids Foundation and Guardian Angels for Special Populations.

“We felt those were the ones who needed the most support,” Crouthamel said.

Tickets cost $80 and admit two people.

“It’s all inclusive,” she said.

The cost includes event admission, play money to gamble with and entrance into the rolling raffle, as well as a catered dinner from Bubba’s Roadhouse & Saloon and an open bar serving beer and wine.

“It’s more of a finger food-dinner than a formal dinner, so they can eat and play,” Crouthamel said.

Live entertainment will be provided by local bands.

“We have Bingo, and there’s different card games,” she said. “It’s a fun night.”

The rolling raffle will feature items donated by local businesses and a $1,500 cash prize.

“It’s a great night to go out,” Crouthamel said.

“The causes that we support are all local causes that have an impact on our community,” she added.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance.
