Annual Garden Club Gala set for Saturday

The Pine Island Garden Club’s 15th annual gala will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The event will take place at Garden Club Park, just one block north of Island Center on Stringfellow Road.

Parking and admission are free.

A variety of vendors will be selling plants, trees, herbs, crafts, art, food and more. There will be a white elephant sale, silent auction, raffle and baked goods (including gluten-free).

Raffle tickets will be available at the gala, from Garden Club members or at the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

Master Gardeners will be available to answer gardening questions, and will present four different demonstrations: “Growing Orchids in Southwest Florida;” “Free and Easy: Fun Floral Arrangements Using Plants from Your Garden;” “Healing Herbs;” and “Growing Bonsai.”

Garden Club volunteers will staff a Children’s Table for kids to plant plants and make garden crafts to take home.

Raffle prizes include gift certificates from local restaurants and businesses, Winn-Dixie gift cards, gift baskets, plants, arts and craft, and lots of other great items. Raffle tickets can be purchased at Winn-Dixie on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and at the gala.

Ticket sales will end at 12:30 p.m. and the raffle prize drawings will immediately follow. You do not have to be present to win.

All funds generated by the gala will be distributed to the Calusa Land Trust, PAWS, Beacon of H.O.P.E., and CROW.
