Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help determining who is responsible for pouring diesel fuel onto the football field at Fort Myers High School, causing nearly $5,000 in damage.

Sometime between 10 p.m. on Oct. 19 and 8 a.m. on Oct. 20, an unknown person or persons somehow gained access to the football field at Fort Myers High at 2635 Cortez Boulevard, Fort Myers. Gasoline was poured over a portion of the field as a weed killer, leaving an obscene image. The total circumference of the area damaged by the vulgar act of vandalism was roughly 20 by 20 yards. School officials had to quickly re-sod the field, since the crime occurred during football season, at a cost of roughly $5,000.

Anyone with information on the person or persons responsible for the vandalism is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
