2 min read

The public has a chance to learn about local companies tied to the construction industry.

Hosted by the Cape Coral Construction Industry Association, the CCCIA Contractors Showcase will take place on Thursday from 5:30 to 10 p.m. at the Dixie Roadhouse. The event, which was previously open only to CCCIA members, will highlight at least 20 vendors, like contractors and subcontractors.

“We’ve actually allowed it to be open to the general public,” Bill Johnson Jr., the executive director of the Cape Coral Construction Industry Association, said. “It serves a greater benefit for everyone.”

Some of the participating companies offer services in security, closets, finance, building supplies, landscaping and sprinklers, and more. There will be general contractors with booths set up, as well as agencies like the Lee County Electric Cooperative and the Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral.

“A nice mix of everyone,” he said, adding that most are based out of the Cape.

“Everyone who’s exhibiting at the showcase, they are members of the CCCIA,” Johnson said.

As of Thursday, approximately 70 people had registered in advance for the event.

“We can hold up to 30 exhibitors and we can put a couple hundred people in there, and they still will have the ability to comfortability speak with people and network among themselves,” he said.

According to Johnson, the local industry has seen a 170 percent jump in permitting for single-family homes. In August, the Cape issued 130 permits – the last time that that occurred was April 2007.

He noted that the showcase provides a venue for the public to connect with needed services.

“Because people are looking to remodel,” Johnson said.

He pointed to the quality of the vendors as another top reason to stop by the event.

“All participants are properly licensed, bonded and insured,” Johnson said.

“The CCCIA’s main goal is to advocate on behalf of the construction industry in the city of Cape Coral,” he said. “To promote membership – serve the greater good and educate the public.”

Advance registration is $20 per person and can be made up until the day of the event.

The day of the showcase the cost is $30 per person; the price includes dinner.

Many vendors will hold giveaways throughout the night, and drink specials will be available.
