Dual-benefit seeks sponsorships for banners and tees
As the benefits near, volunteers from all over have been doing their part to make sure the Rockin’ Robin and Rockin’ for Robin fund-raisers are the best possible.
As well-known local Robin Curley fights colon cancer, she’s staying positive and continues beaming that beautiful smile of hers.
Not one, but two very special benefits will be held in the coming weeks to help with Curley’s costs – one on Fort Myers Beach, one in Cape Coral.
Both are almost completely booked with the music line-up, both are still seeking raffle prizes, and sponsorships are still available for the commemorative T-shirts and banners that will be available at either of the benefits.
Rockin’ Robin in Cape Coral
The Rockin’ for Robin benefit in Cape Coral is taking place Sunday, Aug. 31, from 1 to 7 p.m., at BackStreets Sports Bar, 915 S.E. 47th Terrace. Look forward to plenty of great live music from Renee Massie Hose, DVS and ReVamped Rock, along with a wealth of raffle prizes, silent auctions and more.
“Thus far, just through Facebooking and while not yet soliciting, we’ve had a hot air balloon ride for two, DJ time, a massage, a basket from Arkansas containing wonderful homemade soaps, etc., and jewelry donated,” Dana said. “Southwest Florida ROCKS! Keep in mind, we’re looking for anything and everything to auction or raffle for Robin Curley. Cheers!”
Rockin’ for Robin on Fort Myers Beach
Be sure to come by the Lighthouse Tiki Bar Saturday, Sept. 13, from noon to 6 p.m., to lend your support to Robin Curley.
Enjoy loads of fun, including music, food, raffles, silent auctions, and lots more. As these events are still early on, details are still pending for music.
If you’re a local band/musician or DJ who would like to donate an hour or so of your time to perform during the benefit, or if you’d like to contribute a gift for the raffles, call Fort Myers Beach coordinator Mike “Popeye” Dearden, 239-244-4437.
For updates at either benefit for Curley, check out the special event page on Facebook, Rockin’ Robin Curley.
Contributing to the cause
Contributions to Rockin’ for Robin can be made by making checks payable either directly to Robin Curley, or in the case of contributions desiring a tax exemption letter for their donation, make checks payable to the Florida Helps Foundation. Every dollar contributed in this fashion will be remitted to Curley, but to receive your tax credit, checks must be recorded in the non-profit’s books. This validates your contribution with the IRS.
In either case, mail your contribution to: Popeyepalooza, P.O. Box 6103, Fort Myers Beach, Fla. 33932. Contributions made out directly to Curley will be channeled to her immediately, while those going through the Florida Helps Foundation will experience a one week delay only.
