The Southwest Regional Manufacturers Association announced Wednesday it has hired Marni Sawicki, Cape Coral’s mayor, as its new executive director.

As executive director Sawicki will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the association and “will be working with the board to re-brand and grow the association’s membership along with planning the Made in SWFL tradeshow for next March,” a release on the hiring states.

“The SRMA is a strong organization and with manufacturing on the rise in SWFL, and the experience Marni has, bringing her on board to oversee the operations was a natural fit,” said Gary McKinley, SRMA’s president and chairman, in the statement. “Marni will be a valuable asset for the organization and her contributions will enable us to build a premier association.”

Sawicki brings with her nearly 20 years of experience in management and marketing, the release states, adding she owns Indigo Pros, Inc., a strategic marketing consulting company. Previously, Sawicki was vice president of marketing of a niche insurance wholesaler.
