The identity of a suspect and two people shot dead in a disturbance at Salty Sam’s Marina on Fort Myers Beach Thursday have been released.

Marilyn Spiegel, 70, and Harry Carlip, 71, were reportedly going to marry in Fort Myers on May 18. They were aboard a boat docked at the San Carlos Island marina when Michael Stephen Spiegel, 71, approached and shot them, officials said.

A third victim, reported to be Marilyn’s sister, was injured in the incident and transported to a local hospital.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies, detectives from the agency’s major crimes unit, fire officials and coast guard personnel gathered on the scene Thursday to gather evidence, transport victims and question witnesses.

According to a police spokeswoman, the community is safe and officers are not looking for anyone else directly involved in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and no other information has been released.
