Clerk of Court recommends reservations for Valentine’s Day weddings

2 min read

Traditionally, Valentine’s Day is the busiest day at the Clerk of Court Recording Office for wedding nuptials. In 2013, 25 couples chose to get married in the Wedding Room at the Lee County Clerk’s Recording Office rather than a wedding chapel. For a ceremony fee of $30 (in addition to the $93.50 for the marriage license) the ceremonies can be a cost savings and do not require months of planning.

The Wedding Room is usually on a first-come, first-married schedule allowing 15-minutes for each event. To accommodate all couples wishing to exchange vows in the Wedding Room on Valentine’s Day, the office strongly advises and encourages reservations.

You may also request to have your ceremony performed outside, in front of the old courthouse banyan tree, weather permitting. For an optional cost, Smart Start wedding packages are available include photos, a keepsake certificate and online wedding announcements on the office website.

The Recording Office is opened between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located in downtown Fort Myers on the second floor of the Administration Building at 2115 Second St., Fort Myers, FL.

To reserve the Wedding Room for Friday, Feb. 14, or for more information on fees, Smart Start wedding packages, obtaining a marriage license or the Wedding Room policy, visit www.leeclerk.org/marriage license , call 239-533-5007 or email Info_Recording@leeclerk.org .
