Pedestrian remains hospitalized following crash
A pedestrian remained in the hospital Tuesday after being struck by a Cape Coral motorist.
Steven Ciriaco, 44, of Bonita Springs, was listed in critical at Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was taken following the accident last week on McGregor Boulevard, near San Carlos Boulevard.
At about 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Ciriaco was headed southbound on McGregor in the westbound lanes as a Volvo C70 was traveling eastbound on McGregor, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Ciriaco reportedly failed to notice the Volvo and walked into the path of the vehicle.
The FHP reported that the front of the Volvo struck Ciriaco and he came to rest on the median.
Ciriaco was transported to the hospital.
The driver of the Volvo, Carolan Mahr, 58, of the Cape, was not injured in the accident.
The investigation is ongoing, according to FHP officials.
