Country singer Gwen Sebastian to perform at Victory Lane Cafe

She may not have won on “The Voice,” but that doesn’t mean country singer Gwen Sebastian isn’t staying busy these days.

The recording artist, who released a new album in June and who tied the knot last month, will appear in concert at the Victory Lane Cafe, 3120 Hancock Bridge Parkway, on Friday.

It is one in a series of concerts the sports bar will hold over the next few months.

Billi Jo Daggett, owner of Victory Lane, said the ball get rolling after Blake Shelton, who was her coach on “The Voice,” performed at the Dixie Roadhouse in Cape Coral this past summer.

“She flew in to perform with him and he even let her sing some songs during his show,” Daggett said.

Daggett, upon doing research for another show she is holding next month, learned that Sebastian would be in Florida, so she contacted her promoter and put in for the show, which was confirmed on Wednesday, thus the short notice and thus the reason the details are still a little sketchy, Daggett said.

With only nine days between conception on the show, the only real promotion the show will get is from the local media and their Facebook page.

Despite that, Daggett is confident Sebastian will fill the house.

“This worked out great. After Thanksgiving, going into Christmas, this is great,” Daggett said. “This one will be popular because she’s from ‘The Voice’ and if anyone remembers her, this will be a hit because it’s such a popular show.”

Daggett said she is looking at getting Cowboy Troy, of Big & Rich fame, to come to Victory Lane on Saturday, Jan. 18, as well as another act in February which has not been confirmed.

Victory Lane hosted country singer David Ball and the group Lonestar last year.

A finalist on Season 2 of “The Voice,” Sebastian regularly performs with country music artist Blake Shelton and has also opened for Miranda Lambert.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and admission is $10. For reservations or more information, call 995-0340.
