Bike Night set for Saturday

2 min read

Expect another Bike Night for the ages when the motors roar in the downtown area for the bi-monthly event on Southeast 47th Terrace, between Coronado and Vincennes, from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday.

The event, presented by the Parks and Recreation Department, has another full night on tap with between 10,000 and 15,000 expected to jam pack the area for this free event filled with music, vendors and thousands of bikes.

Elyz Crouthamel, special event specialist, said to expect this to be another wildly successful night.

“The December one is usually one of the biggest because it’s during season,” Crouthamel said. “There will be sexy bull riding on the country stage and the Harley Davidson slow bike races, which people can compete for a $100 gift certificate for Harley Davidson.”

Those events will happen between 7 and 8 p.m. and will happen after an appearance by the Nitro Bike, which will perform burnouts courtesy of DNM Motorsports.

Of course, there will be plenty of live music. Valhalla, a Led Zeppelin tribute band, will headline the event on the rock side, with local band The Fuzz opening, with two other bands expected on the country stage.

“We will also have 70 vendors featuring everything from bike groups to non-profits,” Crouthamel said.

Bike Nights also will be held Feb. 8, and April 12 on the second Saturday of every other month. For more information, call 573-3123.
