Cape Coral Police locate vehicle sought in deadly hit-and-run in Georgia
The Cape Coral Police Department has located an RV sought in connection with a deadly chain-reaction crash outside of Atlanta, Ga. last Saturday.
The department received a request from the Marietta Police Department to attempt to locate a vehicle believed to be involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash. The vehicle, a white Dutch Star motor home, was located by a Patrol unit at 720 S.E. 4th Terrace, Cape Coral.
The suspect in the hit and run, a Canadian citizen who owns property in Cape Coral, has reportedly returned to Atlanta to turn himself in to authorities, officials said.
A Cape Coral Police Department Traffic Homicide investigator responded to the address at which the vehicle was located. The RV was towed and is being held at the Cape Coral Police Department Evidence compound. Law enforcement personnel from Georgia are en route to process the vehicle for their investigation.
“Teamwork, regardless of jurisdictional boundaries, made the difference in this case. Good intelligence provided by the Marietta PD investigators, coupled with tenacity of our Patrol Bureau to follow-up and locate the vehicle, preserved evidence and will hopefully assist with a successful prosecution,” said Det. Sgt. Dana Coston, Cape Coral Police Department spokesperson.
