Cape man sentenced to three years in prison in plea deal with state
A Cape Coral man recently received three years in prison under a plea deal with the state.
Adrian Alexander Madrigal, 20, of 4621 S.W. 25th Court, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of lewd or lascivious battery, a second-degree felony, and was sentenced to 36 months imprisonment.
He had been charged in October with one count of lewd lascivious behavior victim age 12 to 16.
“We worked with the victim’s family on this resolution,” Samantha Syoen, spokeswoman for the State Attorney’s Office, said. “They did not want the victim to have to go through a trial of this nature.”
Madrigal will face eight years of sex offender probation, along with a host of other stipulations, like enrollment in a treatment program, registration as a sex offender and no contact with the victim.
Assistant state attorney Danielle Butler handled the case.
Attorney James Harwood represented Madrigal.
“Adrian entered into the deal because he thought it was in his best interest,” Harwood said Friday, adding that it was a complicated case and his client did not want to face significant prison time.
“I think it was a fair resolution,” he said.
