Man hospitalized following traffic accident ‘improving’
A motorist’s medical condition has improved since he was hospitalized two weeks ago after reportedly running a red light and striking a school bus.
Bradford Eric Tanner, 49, of 4138 Pine Drop Lane, Apt. B, North Fort Myers, was listed as good Tuesday at Lee Memorial Hospital, officials reported.
The driver of the school bus, Kevin Lorenzo Stern, 36, of 450 N.W. 14th Ave., did not sustain any injuries in the Feb. 20 crash. Two students riding the bus were transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
According to police, Tanner was driving a U-Haul north on Santa Barbara Boulevard South at 2:48 p.m. and approaching Southeast Eighth Street. At the time, Stern was traveling west on Southeast Eighth Street.
Witnesses reported that Tanner had a red light at the intersection and attempted to brake but could not stop in time. The U-Haul collided into the left side of the school bus, which had approximately 20 students on it.
Tanner, who was unresponsive, was taken to the hospital via ambulance.
Police officials reported that the crash was alcohol or drug related.
The accident remains under investigation.
