Scheduled water service shutdown to affect 228 homes
The city of Cape Coral Utilities Department will be shutting off the water supply to 228 homes Tuesday, Dec. 13, to repair two problem valves that have contributed to three waterline breaks this year. Water service will be off from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday. All of the affected homes will be under a precautionary “boil water” notice until the City receives clearance from the Lee County Health Department.
The area impacted is a section of Country Club Boulevard south of Archer Parkway. Problem valves have caused breaks in the lines and interrupted water service to several hundred homes as crews repaired each break. Replacing the valves should help prevent future line breaks in the area.
A map of the streets impacted by the shutdown will be available for viewing on the City website at www.capecoral.net.
The city will notify the media when the rescission notice is received from the Health Department. City staff also will be hanging notices on doors on Monday.
