Woman reports battery, stolen vehicle and other items
A Cape Coral woman reported that a man battered her Monday when she refused to exit her vehicle, then stole the vehicle and her cell phone.
At about 10 a.m., Cape police responded to a report of a carjacking in the 1800 block of Northeast Third Street. A woman stated that she and a man, who is known to her, got into an argument while he was driving her vehicle.
He drove them to a residence and told her to get out of the vehicle. She refused, demanding that the man give her the car keys and her cell phone.
He refused and reportedly struck the woman in her mouth area, causing small lacerations to her upper lip. She again asked for her keys and phone.
The man refused and made another motion as if he was going to strike her again, according to a police report. Afraid she would get hit again, she exited the vehicle. The man drove off in the vehicle, which contained several items.
The vehicle is a beige 2002 Mazda Protage that has a Florida tag.
The car is valued at about $6,000, according to the report.
Inside of the vehicle was the woman’s Sprint phone, a grey Toshiba laptop computer, a blue HP laptop computer and miscellaneous pieces of clothing.
The items are valued at approximately $1,800, the report states.
