Friends of the Library book sale continues today
Friends of the Library members began lining up an hour before the doors opened Thursday afternoon to get the first look at what the Fall Book Sale had to offer.
Bob Novander said it was the second largest Thursday afternoon sale they have had.
“We sold well over 1,000 books yesterday, so they were flying,” he said.
Last year, the three hour book sale brought in $2,100 for the members only night and netted $7,800 over three days.
“It was one of our largest sales ever,” Novander said.
Friday morning had a similar affect for the public as they waited for the doors to open for the Fall Book Sale to begin.
Jacky Friedman attended the sale for the first time on Friday because of posters and flyers she saw around the library.
“I like it,” she said about the book sale. “I have found a few books and videos.”
Friedman, who was holding a handful of books, said she was taking advantage of the good prices for Christmas presents for her roommates.
“They have a lot of books and a lot to choose from,” she said. “I am very impressed.”
Another avid reader and shopper Christine Lincoln took advantage of the books sale as well Friday morning.
She said she enjoys the variety of books the sale has to offer.
“I like how they have it broken down into categories,” Lincoln said. “It is nice and organized.”
She said the sale is a nice thing to do for the residents of Cape Coral.
Novander said they take donations all year round for the two book sales that are held. He said individuals can either drop them off at the library or have them picked up.
The two book sales, Novander said always has the same amount of books, but the mix of what they have changes every once in a while.
“We have more fiction this year,” he said about all the books lining the tables throughout the room.
The last day of the sale will be held today from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Cape Coral Library.
