Cape police arrest buglary suspects

2 min read

On Oct. 5, Cape Coral Police Officers Jeffrey Taylor and John Kane responded to a report of a burglary to a business, A-1 Seawall, located in the industrial park. The business owner requested officers meet him at 1416 Miramar Street, the apartment of a suspect in the crime.

Officers made contact with the resident, John Southwick. He reportedly had recently done some work at A-1 Seawall around the time that 300 pounds of copper wire was stolen. Officers noted a large amount of rubber insulation (used to cover copper wire) in Southwick’s trash can, according to reports.

Southwick, 29, reportedly admitted to the officers that he, Daniel Salberg and Anthony Frederico broke into the business and stole the copper wiring. He further admitted that the three of them stripped the insulation off of the wire and sold the wire for scrap at Allied Metals for roughly $150.

Taylor placed Southwick under arrest for the Oct. 3 burglary and grand theft.

Kane made contact with Salberg, 26, of 5340 Malibu Court in Cape Coral, later in the day on Oct. 5. Salberg reportedly admitted to the officer that he participated in the burglary and theft. Salberg was arrested as well.

Kane and Taylor then went on the hunt for Frederico. Through teamwork and persistence, they were able to locate him on Monday, Oct. 24. Taylor placed Frederico, 32, who resides at 308 Tarpon Drive in Cape Coral, under arrest for burglary and grand theft for his part in the Oct. 3 crimes.
