A Cape Coral woman returned home Monday afternoon to discover her residence being burglarized, according to a police report.

At about 12:34 p.m., Cape police responded to a report of a burglary in the 400 block of Southwest 19th Avenue. A woman said she left that morning and returned to find a vehicle backed into her driveway with the doors open.

She then witnessed some people exit her rear yard and asked them if she could help them, the report states. They said no, got in the vehicle and left.

Police checked the home and more than $7,000 in items were missing.

The woman reported that the stolen items were a Sony MP3 player, phone charger, rifle case, two pistol cases, ammo box, a 52-inch plasma television, an HP laptop computer, two semi-automatic pistols, an AK-47, two rifles, a semi-automatic rifle, a level action rifle and four shotguns.

The loss is estimated at $7,115 in total, according to the report.

Police observed that the burglars broke the wooden gate to gain access to the rear yard, then pried open a sliding glass door to get inside the home.

The woman provided a description of the vehicle and suspects.
