More than $7,000 in valuables taken from Cape home

More than $7,000 in electronics, jewelry and cash was stolen from a home in northeast Cape Coral on Monday, according to a police report.
Two women reported that they left their home, located in the 1400 block of Northeast 33rd Lane, at about 8 a.m. When one of the woman returned home at 2 p.m., she discovered that their residence had been ransacked.
The lanai slider was reportedly open and the front door was unlocked.
According to the report, the stolen items include a Toshiba laptop, jewelry box, 1-carat diamond necklace and chain, Wii games, woman’s silver diamond watch, two silver woman’s watches, a cell phone, Gateway LT Netbook with mouse, an iPod and iPod docking station with speakers, and wedding band.
There was also reportedly $3,740 in cash missing from the home.
