Ethics complaints dismissed
The Florida Commission on Ethics has dismissed complaints filed against two Cape Coral council members due to a lack of legal sufficiency.
The commission announced its decision dismissing the complaints against Mayor John Sullivan and Councilmember Bill Deile in a press release dated April 6 that was posted to the commission’s website Thursday morning.
According to Deile in an earlier interview, the complaint was filed by a city employee and had to do with he and Sullivan speaking out about the assessment methodology for the utilities project at a meeting.
Deile and Sullivan previously said the complaint did not have merit.
The city retained Leonard J. Dietzen III, of the Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell firm in Tallahassee, to represent Sullivan and Deile regarding the complaint.
No other information was immediately available.
