Jewelry valued at over $8,000 stolen from Cape home

1 min read

A bracelet and ring worth more than $8,000 was reported stolen Tuesday from a home in southeast Cape Coral.
A man reported that a 14-karat gold link bracelet and 14-karat gold nugget ring containing a half-carat diamond as well as several smaller diamonds were missing from a nightstand in his bedroom. He last saw the jewelry March 21.
The man told police that since that time, a handyman had been been in his home doing odd jobs around the house, including in the master bedroom and bathroom area. He contacted the handyman, who reportedly stated that he had nothing to do with the theft.
According to a police report, the man had the pieces appraised a year ago and both items are worth an estimated $8,600 total.
