Schwing applies for Bonita Springs post
Assistant City Manager Carl Schwing is looking to take his talents to Bonita Springs, where he’s applied for the city manager job.
If hired, Schwing would replace current Bonita Springs City Manager Gary Price, who is set to retire this year.
Schwing declined to comment.
City spokeswoman Connie Barron said that Schwing did not want to give the “appearance he was using the media” to better his chances at being hired.
Schwing began working for the city of Cape Coral in 2002 as the Community Development director.
During his near nine-year tenure with the city, Schwing has worn many hats, most recently serving as the acting Community Development director and the Economic Development director, as well as continuing to serve as the assistant city manager.
Schwing also served as interim city manager between Terry Stewart leaving the position, and Gary King being hired. Schwing also served as the interim Finance Services director before the hiring of Victoria Bateman.
City Manager Gary King wrote that Schwing would “remain welcome” as a senior contributor and a member of King’s leadership team.
It’s unknown when Schwing will interview for the job.
