Driver involved in 2009 traffic fatality receives prison sentence

A Cape Coral man involved in a 2009 car crash that resulted in the death of a bicyclist has been sentenced to 78 months in state prison.
Louis Trasatti, IV, 23, of 1416 SW 50th St., pleaded no contest to charges of vehicular homicide, officials said Tuesday. Trasatti also was sentenced to 108 months of probation upon his release, 120 hours of community service and he has to write a letter to the victim’s mother.
The crash happened in the 1500 block of northeast Pine Island Road on June 18, 2009. The investigation by the Cape Coral Police Traffic Homicide Unit concluded that Trasatti was impaired while operating a vehicle when he struck the bicyclist, Martin Gasber, 42, of North Fort Myers).
Gasber died from his injuries that day.
