Funeral arrangements have been set for a 24-year-old accident victim who died Christmas morning from injuries he sustained in a single-car crash in Cape Coral.
Michael Paul Phillips III died Dec. 25 from injuries suffered in a traffic accident at the intersection of Northwest 14 Terrace and Burnt Store Road on Dec. 21.
Phillips suffered life-threatening injuries after being thrown from his vehicle.
His death is the 10th traffic fatality this year in Cape Coral, according to the Cape Coral Police Department.
A memorial celebration of Phillips’ life will be held Thursday, Dec. 30, at 1 p.m., at First Christian Church of Fort Myers, 2061 McGregor Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, the Phillips family suggests donations to the Cape Coral Junior Football Association or North Fort Myers Little League, or the children’s charity of your choice in his memory.
Phillips is survived by his wife, Casey June (Bromby) Phillips. They were married April 4, 2009.
According to his family, Phillips loved sports, especially football and baseball, having played both throughout his life. He was a stand-out player in Cape Coral Junior Football and North Fort Myers Little League, and played both sports in high school. He wanted to coach his own children in sports one day.
