Capt. John “GiddyUp” Bunch, the founder of Operation Open Arms, presents PFC Corey Kent with a Multi-Service Operation Open Arms Medallion at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C. Wednesday. Kent, who is from Cape Coral, was critically wounded while serving in Afghanistan. Operation Open Arms is a not-for-profit organization based on Pine Island with business participation throughout Lee County. The group provides various services to deployed military personnel home on leave for R&R as well as confidential counseling for battle-stressed veterans. The visit with PFC Kent was intended as both a thank you and recognition for sacrifices made.
