Man’s truck stolen, found Monday
A Cape Coral man’s truck was stolen and later recovered Monday.
The man called police at about 12:20 p.m. to report that his black 2000 Chevrolet truck was removed from the parking area at his work, located in the 4700 block of Southeast 10th Place. He stated that he went inside for a short time, but left the truck’s doors unlocked and the keys in the ignition.
According to a report, the man heard his truck start and ran outside as it drove away. He got into another company van driven by a co-worker and they followed the truck for about 10 minutes until they lost sight of it in the area of Skyline Boulevard and 28th Street. During the chase, the man called 911.
The man continued to look for the Chevy and eventually located it behind a vacant residence in the 3000 block of Southwest 11th Place. He again called the police and notified them of the vehicle’s location. K-9 and Aviation units responded, and the K-9 followed a track northbound but eventually lost it.
The man told police that no one had permission to take his truck.
The Chevy is worth an estimated $5,000, according to the report.
Latent prints were listed from the vehicle and submitted into evidence.
