‘Grinch’ steals presents, more from home
More than $9,000 in items, including wrapped presents under a Christmas tree, were reported stolen from a home Monday.
A woman told police that she and her children returned home to discover that their residence, located in the 2100 block of Southeast Third Street, had been ransacked and burglarized. The missing items totaled $9,935.
According to a report, the burglar appeared to have entered the home through a bedroom window by removing the screen. Police noted that it appeared it was unlocked because there was no sign that it was forced.
The stolen items included a video gaming system, video games, jewelry, shoes, cameras, toys, clothing, a purse, liquor bottles, a laptop computer, watches and $1,300 in cash.
Christmas presents also were taken.
