The McFlat’s Invitational Redfish Challenge raised $55,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Florida.
More than 500 people participated in the sixth annual event, which was held Sept. 3-4 and included fishing tournaments for adults and children, a poker tournament and silent auction.
Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Florida finds, creates and supports programs that directly and improve the health and well-being of children in Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Glades and Hendry counties. Since 1996, more than 2,000 families from the region, as well as other states and countries, have found a home away from home at The Ronald McDonald House in Fort Myers while their children are undergoing medical treatment.
Additional thousands are served by The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile and by grants and scholarships awarded to deserving individuals and organizations in the five-county region.
McFlat’s co-chairpersons were Tim Frederic, owner-operator of McDonald’s Restaurants of Cape Coral and RMHC of Southwest Florida advisory council member; Jeff Miloff, a partner of Miloff Aubuchon Realty and RMHC of Southwest Florida vice president; and Mitch Williamson, owner of Screenprint Plus, who once stayed at The Ronald McDonald House when his son was born premature. The event was presented by Sandbill Realty/Sandbill Homes and hosted by The Resort at Marina Village.
“We are so grateful to the event’s co-chairpersons, sponsors and hundreds of participants for their time, hard work and generous donations,” said Laura Ragain, executive director of RMHC of Southwest Florida. “The $55,000 they raised from McFlat’s exceeded our expectations and will provide a great deal of support to local children and families in need.”
