Investigation continues into home fire
Officials are continuing to investigate a fire that caused an estimated $90,000 in damages to a home in northeast Cape Coral this weekend.
Cape Coral Fire units responded to a 911 call reporting flames and smoke coming from the home at 1118 N.E. 11th Street at 9:49 p.m. Saturday.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within 20 minutes. A primary and secondary search found no occupants inside.
Cape Coral Fire Investigator Joe Murphy determined that the fire started in the east wall closet of the master bedroom. The State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted, and LCEC responded to the scene to pull the electric meter. A city building inspector also responded and red-tagged the structure.
The incident remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, officials said Monday.
