Work on traffic signal slowing motorists
Work being performed on the traffic signal control box at Veterans Parkway and Country Club Boulevard is slowing down traffic in the immediate area, officicals reported.
The Lee County Department of Transportation is conducting maintenance on the “signal cabinet” that controls the traffic signals at the intersection, said Deputy Director Paul Wingard. It is a one-day operation and the work should ne completed within the hour.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is on scene to direct motorists since the traffic signals are not operational at the moment. Wingard said traffic in the area is expected to be slower than normal as the signals are currently out.
He added that the work being performed is regular preventive maintenance that is performed on control boxes at every county intersection every 12-18 months. There was not a particular problem or issue with the signal cabinet that needed to be addressed.
